8:30am-12:30pm
Application Prototyping with GAMS
The workshop is designed to show you how to use the GAMS modeling and rapid prototyping tools in an efficient and productive way. There will be an introduction to the system and a presentation on key concepts of GAMS. The largest part of the workshop consists of hands-on exercises building GAMS models and applications. Guided by our experts, sample optimization based decision support applications will be built from scratch. We will show how easy and flexible GAMS interacts with other applications, including MS Office applications.
In addition, examples of how to build sophisticated algorithms will be given. You will also get an introduction on how to analyze and debug large problems using the various tools available within the GAMS system. Materials will be available, including a personal copy of GAMS to get you started right away. |

Optimization Modeling and Deployment with SAS
OPTMODEL from SAS provides powerful, accessible optimization modeling, integrated with the SAS programming language and with SAS data handling, analytical (statistics, forecasting, data mining, etc.), and reporting capabilities. We’ll explore the flexibility and versatility of OPTMODEL in this workshop presented by Dr. Manoj K. Chari, SAS R&D, including:
- Rich, succinct algebraic modeling syntax
- Unified solver access for linear and nonlinear optimization
- The ability to program customized algorithms with OPTMODEL code
We will also preview the mixed-integer programming features that will debut in the next version of OPTMODEL. Finally, we’ll demonstrate how to deploy SAS optimization models for general use and how to create business-oriented interfaces for SAS optimization models. |

Predicting the Outcome - Before You Make the Decision!
This informative workshop will show, through operations modeling software, how a company can have a unified framework that brings together the financial, operational and decision-making aspects of their business that are traditionally distributed across various functional units. See how ‘What-If’ scenarios can help optimize business decisions. |

8:30am-12:30pm
Statistical Analysis Using STATGRAPHICS
Presenters Neil Polhemus and Seth Wyatt will demonstrate the use of STATGRAPHICS Centurion and STATGRAPHICS Mobile for statistical data analysis. Topics covered will include data visualization, statistical model building, classification and regression, time series forecasting, sequential sampling, and process optimization. Data synchronization between desktop computers and handheld computing devices will also be discussed. |

Optimization Modeling in AIMMS 3.7 – A Stochastic Approach
Be one of the first to experience AIMMS 3.7 - the new release of AIMMS (Oct 2006)! We will show many of the new features, including integrated GIS support, Parallel Solver sessions, Multi-Developer support and Stochastic Programming support. We will take you on a journey to experience the different aspects of building a complete optimization-based decision support application in AIMMS. The first stop will be the easy-to-use Model Explorer and Page Manager, basic tools that allow you to build an optimization model and interactive GUI. The next stop is a global overview of the new AIMMS 3.7 features. The last stop, and the highlight of this tour, is the AIMMS 3.7 Stochastic Programming support: we will show the ability to solve a mathematical model with uncertainty to optimality without changing the actual structure of the deterministic model (creating a robust solution).
Come join us on this journey: register by checking the workshop box on the registration form, or by contacting us directly. For more details and a free trial copy of AIMMS, visit our website. After the workshop, we cordially invite to have a drink with us and tell us how you want to continue your journey. |
