Northeastern Shore Location—“Off the Beaten Path”
Both hotels are self-contained resorts located on the beautiful northeastern shore of Puerto Rico. San Juan, the capital city, is a 60-90 minute drive from the Wyndham and nearly two hours from the El Conquistador. Each hotel offers a full array of services, from recreational options to multiple restaurants and shops.
The Wyndham is located in Rio Grande, 19 miles east of San Juan’s international airport (a 40-50 minute drive). Set on 500 acres adjacent to El Yunque National Forest, the resort is secluded with very limited services outside the hotel, such as restaurants and shops, in the local area.
The El Conquistador is located outside the city of Fajardo, known as the boating capital of Puerto Rico and set on Las Croabas Bay. There is a small selection of restaurants within 2 to 3 mile radius of the hotel, including local seafood restaurants and a few fast-food chains. The El Conquistador is 30 miles from San Juan international airport, just over a one-hour drive.
Transportation on the Island
Both hotels offer shuttle service to and from San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. If you anticipate touring the island on your own and/or if you don’t want to be limited to services available at the hotel, you should consider renting a car. Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa SOLD OUT
Headquarters Hotel – most conference events will be held at the Wyndham
The Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa is set along the golden sands of Puerto Rico’s northeastern shore – a 500-acre tropical resort on Rio Mar Beach, adjacent to El Yunque National Forest. This world-class hotel offers not only luxurious accommodations, but also every seaside recreational option you can imagine as well as a wide selection of restaurants and shops. The Wyndham Rio Mar Resort is the headquarters hotel for the INFORMS International Meeting; the technical program, exhibits, registration and most social events will be held here.

The resort is fairly secluded with limited services outside the hotel, such as restaurants and shops, in the local area. The hotel offers an airport shuttle service at a rate of $60 roundtrip.
Room Rate
Special conference rate is $155 per night single/double occupancy, plus resort service fee of $12.00 and maid gratuity of $3.50 per room, per night. Room tax is 11%, figured on the base room rate. Bellman fee is $8.50 per person, one time charge. Resort fee includes internal resort transportation, unlimited use of the health club, beach towels and chairs, and in-room coffee.
INFORMS has reserved a block of rooms at the Wyndham for the dates of the conference, July 8-11. The Wyndham will allow extensions for several days before and after our conference at the INFORMS rate, subject to availability at the time of reservation. Children under 18 years old staying in the same room as their parents are free.
A deposit equal to one night’s stay is required to hold your reservation. Such deposit shall serve to confirm the reservation for the date (s) indicated, and, upon check-in, shall be applied to the first night of the reserved stay. This deposit is refundable if notice is received at least seventy-two (72) hours prior to the day of arrival by 12:00 noon and a cancellation number is obtained. All deposits shall be charged at the time the reservation is made.

El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa

A 20-30 minute drive from the Wyndham; INFORMS will provide a complimentary, continuous shuttle service between the El Conquistador and the Wyndham.
One of the Caribbean’s most spectacular resorts, the El Conquistador offers all the amenities – including a 100-acre private island with secluded beaches, horseback-riding and water sports, boutiques and an open-air café! Recreational facilities at the hotel complex include the famous Golden Door Spa, a casino, championship 18-hole golf course, seven tennis courts, six swimming pools and nine restaurants.
The El Conquistador is located outside the city of Fajardo, known as the boating capital of Puerto Rico and set on Las Croabas Bay. Special conference room rate is $155 per night single/double occupancy, plus resort service fee of 14% per room per day ($21.70). Room tax is 11%, figured on the base room rate. Other fees are optional at the discretion of the guest. The hotel recommends a housekeeping fee of $3 per room per day and $10 bellman fee per roundtrip.

Room Sharing
If you would like to share a hotel room for the INFORMS International Puerto Rico meeting, you can place your name on a room sharing list to assist in locating a compatible roommate. Simply email the following information to meetings@informs.org: your full name, organization, gender (male or female) and dates of reservation.
Periodically, INFORMS will email the list to all individuals who have signed up. It is the user’s responsibility to then contact others on the list to determine compatibility for room sharing and make all necessary arrangements, including hotel reservations.
