Site Tours & Study Visits

WSC 2018 will offer site tours on Wednesday, December 12.

Registered attendees may select one of the following tours during registration. Bus service will be provided to/from the facility. Please note that each tour has a maximum number of attendees. The tours will start between 12:30-1pm and all buses are scheduled to return to Gothia Towers by 5pm.

Volvo Car Corporation Factory Tour

Take a ride on the factory tour through the Volvo Cars plant at Torslanda and get a behind-the-scenes view of Volvo’s production line. A guide will take you through the production process, from rolls of sheet metal to finished cars. Photography and the use of mobile phones is prohibited. (Maximum 60 attendees)

Aeroseum

Guided tour of the Aerosum, an experience-based activity center for the history and development of flight. The museum features everything from Ikaros to today’s modern aircraft, helicopters and other flying craft, civil, military, national and international. (Maximum 50 attendees)

Volvo Trucks Manufacturing Plant Tour and Presentation on Simulation in Manufacturing

Tour the company’s Tuve plant near Gothenberg. The plant manufactures for more than 100 countries, and consists of a 56 station assembly that pushes out around 105 trucks every day.

SKF Factory Tour and Industry 4.0 Implementations Presentation

SKF has been a leading global technology provider since 1907. SKF’s operations in Sweden features a new, fully-automated and digital production process in Gothenburg, adapted for the manufacture of spherical roller bearings. Over a million bearings per year are manufactured in the Gothenburg facility. The majority of these are exported. The products are used in heavy industry, such as mining, steelworks, paper machines, wind turbines, train gearboxes, fans and pumps.  (Maximum 40 attendees)
