What’s Right With You? Leveraging Strengths for Better Performance at Work

Most professionals are trained to focus on gaps, weaknesses, and problems to solve. While this approach is essential in technical and analytical work, research in strengths-based development shows that individuals and teams perform best when they intentionally leverage what they already do well.

In this interactive introductory workshop, participants will explore the core principles of strengths-based development and gain a practical understanding of how focusing on natural talents can support better performance, collaboration, and engagement—even in complex, technical environments. Attendees will learn what strengths are (and are not), why a strengths-based approach is effective, and how it complements traditional problem-solving methods.

Through discussion, reflection, and examples, participants will consider how strengths show up in professional work and how an intentional focus on strengths can enhance outcomes over time. This session is designed to spark fresh thinking, provide a framework for continued exploration, and leave participants with simple, actionable ideas they can begin applying immediately.

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of the value of a strengths-based approach and guidance on how to continue discovering and leveraging their own strengths to improve effectiveness, engagement, and professional satisfaction.
