WORMS Reception

WORMS’ guest speaker at the reception tonight was Lora Cecere, founder of Supply Chain Insights, LinkedIn Influencer, prolific author and blogger, all around really smart woman and expert in Supply Chain.

I don’t think I’m going to be able to summarize her talk better than she did, so here are some (mostly direct) quotes that I particularly enjoyed.

Do what you like, don’t let your bosses pressure you to go down a path you don’t want.

Don’t pressure yourself today to know what you want to do when you’re 65.

Relax, we just don’t know what’s going to happen.

Be open to the outcomes that happen in your career.

Purchase a great suitcase.

Don’t carry any monkeys (taking on other people’s problems at work as your own)

Manage yourself. There is nothing like humor and self reflection.

Build networks. LinkedIn is a great asset.

Focus on what you can control.

Writing a book is like having a baby; exciting, takes about 9 months, what have I done..

And lastly, but most importantly: Live a full and healthy life. You can do a lot of work, write a lot of books, wear wheels out of a lot of suitcases, but at the end of the day, it’s all about you.
