The sun has set on the Virtual Career Fair tonight. I was excited and optimistic to see what INFORMS was able to produce! The platform that INFORMS used was very simple, effective, and successful! I was able to choose who to talk to, have video compatibility so I could talk to people I was interested in, and the candidate’s resume was readily available to read right then and there.
I believe there was a great variety of candidates, of all different backgrounds. With it being a virtual setting, I feel as though it made it easier for people to ask questions. I was even able to set up a few after event interviews that I am very much looking forward to.
That was the biggest event we were looking forward to in this event and I am sad to see it end. I may stop into a few sessions tomorrow before I sign off!
Thank you INFORMS for a wonderful virtual experience!

Today, I popped into the Academic and Industry Job Search Panels to see what the the intelligent sessions chairs had to say about getting into each of those fields. As an employer, it is beneficial to know how one decides to go into those fields, their backgrounds, and approach to the overall process. All in all, it was a great second day but I cannot wait for the Virtual Career Fair tomorrow! Best part of the conference (in my opinion :D)

The Virtual Career Fair is finally (almost) here! All things considered, my company and I are lucky enough to still be hiring. We are so excited to see the number of job seekers who have signed up and are as ready as we are. We currently have job openings for:
- Business Operations & Research Manager
- Operations Research Analyst
- Assistant Professor in Business Analytics
If you or anyone you know, would be interested in these positions, please visit us at the Virtual Career Fair on Tuesday, November 10. http://meetings2.informs.org/wordpress/annual2020/career-fair/

I’m hoping to fill two tenure-track positions. I’m curious how a virtual career fair will work between meeting with candidates and making sure attendees have the right background and experience for the positions I’m looking to fill. Should be interesting!
What’s hard right now?
I’m not sure how to go about finding the right candidates at a virtual career fair. How can I best match positions to people with the right level of expertise? How do I make sure I haven’t overlooked someone? Usually there are mixers and appointments to meet candidates and review their qualifications but I’d like to do more than just create a series of Zoom meetings and hope for the best.
