Sign up when you register for the meeting. Light refreshments will be provided.<\/p>\n<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<p>This workshop, designed for newcomers, will cover Monte Carlo and discrete-event simulation. Participants will run and modify existing simulation programs downloaded prior to the workshop. An R a Python package will be used in the workshop.<br \/><br \/>Topics include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is simulation?\n<ul>\n<li>Monte Carlo simulation<\/li>\n<li>Discrete-event simulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Examples\n<ul>\n<li>A simple dice game<\/li>\n<li>A single-server queue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Input modeling\n<ul>\n<li>Univariate distributions<\/li>\n<li>Modeling dependence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Output analysis\n<ul>\n<li>Point estimation<\/li>\n<li>Uncertainty quantification<\/li>\n<li>Variance reduction techniques<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Simulation optimization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Who Should Attend?<\/h2>\n<p>The target audience for the workshop consists of managers, computer scientists, and engineers with little or no familiarity with probability, statistics, and simulation.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Should You Attend?<\/h2>\n<p>Attending the workshop will help newcomers to simulation assimilate the technical sessions presented at the Winter Simulation Conference. Due to the limited time for the workshop, it will be very light on theory, but heavy on intuition associated with simulation.
