Benefits of Presenting

  • Discounted conference registration rate (for member and non-member rates only, not applicable to student/retired rate)
  • Presenter registration covers the conference program, Edelman Gala, Welcome Reception, lunch, and coffee breaks for two days.
  • The prestige of being selected to present at a high-quality INFORMS conference.
  • An opportunity to participate fully in the conference and network with professionals, academics, students, and vendors from across analytics, data science, operations research, mathematics and statistics, machine learning, AI, and more.

Selection Criteria and Guidelines

The review and acceptance process is highly selective, with two primary criteria: topic content that will be interesting and useful to our audience, and high-quality presentation skills.

Presentation Content

  • Real-world business topics, with technical content included.
  • High-quality academic work geared to real situations.
  • Applications reports, case studies, best practices examples, emerging topics, and tutorials with a practice orientation.
  • Presentations directed to a “listener” audience (most members of the audience attend the conference to listen to high quality presentations, not to present), of which approximately 80% are practitioners.
  • See last year’s website for sample talks.

Presentations must address one of the following topics:

  • Business Intelligence
  • Cloud
  • Clustering
  • Data For Good
  • Defense
  • Education
  • Finance
  • Gen AI
  • General Analytics
  • Manufacturing
  • Marketing
  • Optimization
  • Prediction
  • Retail
  • Simulation
  • Supply Chain

To Submit a Proposal

The submission process will request:

  • Presentation title
  • Key Message (1–2 sentences): What is the important idea/takeaway the speaker will deliver?
  • A 100-150-word summary of your presentation.
  • Brief biography and a high-resolution, color headshot photo (JPG/JPEG at least 200px by 200px).
  • A 500-word extended summary written with the listener’s perspective in mind. Your summary should answer the listener’s basic questions: “What will I learn from this session? What information/knowledge/ideas will I come away with?” It’s important that you describe in as much detail as possible what you will cover in your presentation. A bulleted list of topics, points, examples, and issues can be an effective technique for doing this.
  • Demonstrated speaking experience and speaking references. Please include this in your extended summary upload.
  • Potential speakers could be interviewed by phone.

If your presentation is accepted…

We are going to provide attendees with the tools they need to plan which sessions they attend through the lens of the INFORMS Analytics Framework™ (IAF™).

The INFORMS Analytics Framework details specific analytics roles, responsibilities, and tasks essential for successfully applying analytics to problems, questions, and opportunities enabling impactful business, research, medical, and other decisions. Developed by INFORMS with input from the analytics community, the framework establishes best practices for analytics success. The IAF also serves as the basis for all three Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) exam blueprints. CAP certification validates an individual’s knowledge of the entire analytics process.
