Jade found her rhythm in data visualization and quickly became unstoppable, dedicating herself to equipping her community with skills in data analytics through partnerships with organizations like Code:You and the Microsoft Future of Work Initiative. Driven to bridge the technology gap not only for community members, but also for grassroots organizations, she founded Brown Solutions, a data studio that helps mission-driven businesses align high-level strategy with actual impact. As a colorful being, Jade loves dancing, cooking, creating, and trying new food spots. AI and a variety of other technologies have evolved over the past century, marking key points in history that have catapulted the possibilities of creation & innovation. Let’s face it, though – with every great thing comes great consequence. What are we sacrificing with the exponential adoption of AI?

As our algorithms are becoming more intelligent, our society is becoming more divided.

From the Industrial Revolution to the Digital Age, nearly every major technological leap has inadvertently widened the wealth gap. Why is this? Coded bias. Access. Lack of education. It all comes down to the technological exclusion of communities that are truly representative of all neighborhoods.

Our duty as data professionals is to assure our methodologies throughout the entire data lifecycle minimize bias. It is time for us to embed the community in the development and deployment of technological solutions as a professional standard. Our world depends on it.
