Suggested Best Practices
To create a clear, engaging poster experience for attendees, we recommend the following best practices:
Design & Readability
- Use high contrast between background and text
- Ensure the title is readable from 15–20 feet
- Body text should be readable from at least 6 feet
- Avoid dense, high word‑count layouts; 800 words or fewer is ideal
- Posters should be understandable without relying on verbal explanation
Content & Organization
- Limit acronyms and extensive mathematical notation where possible
- Clearly communicate the key elements of your work, such as:
- Problem description and objectives
- Methodology
- Key findings or conclusions
- Relevant diagrams, charts, or graphs
- Organize content into clear sections (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions)
- Arrange material in columns to guide the reader naturally through the poster
- Use graphics strategically — self‑explanatory visuals should dominate
