WSC 2026 offers tours and site visits in the afternoon of December 9 and the morning of December 10. Registered attendees may select one of the following tours during registration.
Bus service will be provided to/from the facility, event-specific information will be provided for all participants closer to the conference. Please note that each tour has a maximum number of attendees.
No refunds will be given unless a field trip is cancelled by the organizing committee or the facility.
The Clydeside Distillery

Located on the River Clyde and only a short walk from the conference venue, this working single-malt whisky distillery offers tours of the production process followed by a whisky tasting. An easy way to experience one of Scotland’s most famous industries without leaving the conference neighbourhood. The tours take about one hour, but we have a staggered start. Crossbill Gin
Make your own Scottish gin at this small distillery in Glasgow’s historic Barras. Crossbill uses hand-foraged Scottish botanicals, and its award-winning Gin School offers tasting, blending, and distilling experiences. Learn more about Crossbill here.

Riverside Museum and the Tall Ship Glenlee
Glasgow’s free transport and technology museum tells the story of cars, trains, trams, bicycles, ships, and the city’s engineering heritage. Learn more about the Riverside Museum here. The museum is free of charge, and you can visit on your own during opening hours; we are offering the convenience of transport to and from the hotel.
Extra: Moored immediately outside Riverside Museum, the Glenlee is a restored Clyde-built sailing ship dating from 1896. The two attractions are easy to combine in a single visit.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
One of Scotland’s most popular museums, housed in an impressive red-sandstone building close to the University of Glasgow. Its 22 galleries span art, natural history, Ancient Egypt, design, and Scottish history, and there is also a daily organ recital. Read more about the museum here. The Burrell Collection
An extraordinary art collection set within Pollok Country Park, ranging from medieval stained glass and Chinese art to works by Degas and Rodin. National Manufacturing Institute Scotland
The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is an industry-led group of manufacturing research and development facilities operated by the University of Strathclyde. It serves as a major hub for innovation, aiming to transform productivity, develop worker skills, and help manufacturing businesses achieve net-zero targets. Find out more about NMIS here.
We have a dedicated tour, including welcome and refreshments, an initial introduction to NMIS, followed by staggered tours with groups of 8-10 people with an NMIS tour guide and a chaperone to ensure the group stays together as it passes through the large workshop area. Those waiting for a tour or returning from one of the first ones could help themselves to further refreshments while they wait. Once everyone has returned to the Netherton Suite, we would wrap things up with any final thoughts and Q&A. Total time on site would be around 90 minutes and the time slot below is for the time at the facility; we will announce bus times separately (approx. 45 mins on the bus each way).
