Improving Decision Making Across the Factory Lifecycle with Simulation

Simulation is a crucial tool across the factory lifecycle. This presentation will cover how simulation is used in four key areas. First, as a tool to improve factory design with iterative feasibility testing, throughput analysis, and bottleneck identification. Second, to derisk the commissioning phase by moving controls testing and systems integration testing earlier in the commissioning process with a virtual model of automation equipment, PLCs and management systems. Third, by using this virtual model to train workers safely and effectively. And finally by leveraging this virtual environment for ongoing change testing, continuous improvement, and advanced optimization. The presentation will conclude by covering lessons learned over the course of dozens of industrial simulation projects.
