WSC TURNS 50:  SIMULATION EVERYWHERE!

From experimentation to theory; standards and advanced methodologies, modeling and simulation is continually pushing the envelope of the available technologies, as many sectors have growing needs to process, visualize, make readable, understand, and deploy complex models that use immense amounts of data. These players need to transform data into hypothesis building and critical decision-making, and to change their models in response to new hypotheses, usually involving multiple highly specialized experts working together in geographically distant areas.

After 50 years, we are now beyond Modeling and Simulation using Grid and Cloud computing, Web-based and distributed simulation and other recent technologies. We need to deal with computing power and storage in heterogeneous environments, resources virtualization; services consumed on demand (with minimal limitation for resource location), power issues, massive datasets. We face new challenges as we have ubiquitous processors that can process applications on demand.

WSC 2017 focus is on addressing how to achieve the goal of having Simulation Everywhere!

PAPER DEADLINES & REQUIREMENTS

All contributed paper submissions will be peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the digital version of the conference proceedings and indexed in IEEE Xplore, the ACM Digital Library and other databases. All papers must be presented for the paper to be fully published, copyrighted and disseminated. Instructions, information, submission forms and procedures are available on the WSC website.

Each accepted paper must have a unique registration and a corresponding presentation at the conference by one of the paper’s authors. Board approval is required if any single registration is attached to more than one paper. Registration deadline: November 3, 2017.

Contributed Paper Deadlines

  • April 28, 2017: Electronically submit contributed papers not previously published or presented. Each submission must use the Word or LaTeX templates on the Authors Kit. The page size in the proceedings is 8.5 by 11 inches (21.6 cm by 27.9 cm). Papers should be at most 12 pages (including an abstract of not more than 150 words), except for introductory tutorials, advanced tutorials, history of simulation, and panel sessions, for which the limit is 15 pages. Submission implies that an author will attend WSC 2017 and present the paper, and all clearance required for publication of the paper will be obtained by July 15, 2017. Use of the authors’ templates in one of the following formats is required: Microsoft Word or LaTeX. Submissions must be made through the WSC website.
  • June 7, 2017: Notification of acceptance
  • June 30, 2017: Authors electronically submit corrected papers to the Proceedings Editor.
  • July 22, 2017: Authors electronically provide a final manuscript meeting all technical and format requirements to the Proceedings Editor.

Invited Paper Deadlines

Track chairs will invite experts in the field to submit papers to their tracks. The deadlines for these papers will be sent individually to each of the invited authors.
  • May 14, 2017: Submit full papers. Each submission must use the Word or LaTeX templates on the Authors Kit. The page size in the proceedings is 8.5 by 11 inches (21.6 cm by 27.9 cm). • July 22, 2017: Authors electronically provide a final manuscript meeting all technical and format requirements to the Proceedings Editor.
Poster Session or Ph.D. Colloquium (One or the other, submission to both Poster Session and the PhD Colloquium is not allowed for 2017)
  • September 1, 2017 (extended deadline): electronically submit 2-page extended abstracts for presentations in the Poster Session and Ph.D. Student Colloquium. Extended abstracts are used for designing the tracks, but are not peer reviewed parts of the proceedings and are not archived in IEEE Xplore.
