Universidad EAFIT

The Universidad EAFIT, a distinguished Colombian private non-profit university, is excited to host the upcoming INFORMS International Conference at its main campus in the El Poblado sector, south of Medellín, Colombia. Spanning nearly 128,000 square meters, this lush, park-like campus is a blend of academic buildings, research labs, athletic facilities, auditoriums, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Its design seamlessly integrates natural and architectural elements, creating an environment where flora, fauna, and educational structures coexist in harmony.

Founded in 1960 and accredited by the Ministry of Education of Colombia for its high-quality education, Universidad EAFIT offers a comprehensive range of programs including 24 undergraduate, 40 master’s, 6 PhD, and over 50 graduate certificate programs. Travel Details

For those traveling to Medellín, Colombia for the conference, José María Córdova International Airport is located approximately 45 minutes from the city center. Transportation options, including taxis and airport shuttle services, are readily available to transfer you to Medellín. Be sure to check for any travel advisories or visa requirements specific to Colombia before your departure.

Passport

International visitors wishing to travel to Colombia must present a passport valid for at least six (6) months. This document must contain free pages for its use.

Request a Letter of Invitation

Visa

Citizens of some countries need a visa that must be processed at the Colombian embassies or consulates abroad. To check if your country requires a visa, click here. If the visa requirement applies to your country, you may request a Letter of Invitation from INFORMS. Once the letter is issued, you can proceed with your individual online visa application. Please start your visa request as soon as you can, as the process could take up to three (3) months.

Currency

The Colombian peso is the legal currency in the country. It is possible to exchange euros, dollars and other currencies at authorized exchange houses located at international airports, hotels, and banks. Credit cards can be used in all major stores and some smaller ones. The most widely accepted are Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club.
