The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering‘s Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department conducts both basic and applied research to advance knowledge and address technological needs. Research spans various disciplines related to industrial and manufacturing engineering, conducted through collaboration with research centers and state-of-the-art laboratories. The department features specialized labs in materials science and magnetics, with proximity to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and High-Performance Materials Institute. Faculty expertise includes data science, systems engineering analytics, artificial intelligence, advanced materials and manufacturing, nanomaterials, and smart multifunctional materials, with major research initiatives funded by NASA, DOD, and NSF.
