8:30-10:30am
There is no fee to participate in this workshop. SimOpt is hosted and sponsored by North Carolina State University, Cornell University and Texas A&M University.
Limit to 40 participants. Preference will be given to those who have Simulation Optimization as their main research track.
All participants are required to register for Winter Simulation Conference (2022 WSC).
The first SimOpt workshop will be held at 2022 WSC in Singapore. The workshop is intended to introduce users to SimOpt – an open-source library of simulation models and solvers – and provide guidance on how to interact with the library. Given the coding nature of the workshop, it will be offered only in-person, but a separate virtual workshop will be organized and announced in the near future. The workshop is scheduled for Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 8am Singapore time at the conference venue and is expected to last about two hours.
The workshop organizers, Sara Shashaani, David Eckman, and Shane Henderson, especially recommend this workshop for researchers and students working on simulation optimization. Participants will learn how to run multiple solvers on multiple problems and generate a range of diagnostic plots, including the one below, that shed light on the relative performance of solvers, all with minimal effort. They’ll also learn how to contribute problems and solvers to the library.
Questions on the workshop can be directed to Sara Shashaani.
