Track: Industry and Academia Integration

Illuminating the INFORMS ABOK’s 5 Manageable Tasks for Analytics Success

Inspired by the 5 Manageable Tasks for Analytics Success written by Karl Kempf of Intel for the INFORMS Analytics Body of Knowledge (ABOK), the speaker went on a years-long research journey interviewing prominent analytics professionals, including Karl, for their take on each of these tasks and what to do to avoid failure and succeed. The results of this research have been compiled into a professional education course and will soon be released in a forthcoming book published by Wiley. This presentation synthesizes, summarizes, and shares key insights regarding each of these 5 manageable tasks and then shares how industry and academia can work together to educate students and professionals for success using this INFORMS framework originally developed by Karl.
